On January 5, 2025, the Congolese Community of Washington Metropolitan (CCWM) held its highly anticipated elections, marking a significant milestone as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first CCWM elections. This year's vote participation was exceptional, reflecting the interest of our members and the purpose of our organization.
We are pleased to announce that Dady Djamba has been elected as the new President of CCWM. His vision and commitment to the community resonated with voters, and we congratulate him on this achievement.

Honoring All Candidates and Supporters
We wish to recognize and celebrate the efforts of all candidates who brought their unique perspectives and strengths to this important process.
Zoe Adjanga, the youngest candidate, displayed extraordinary energy and ambition, enrolling an amazing quantity of new members during his campaign. Unfortunately, due to adjustments in the online voting process—implemented by the Electoral Commission to address unconfirmed suspicious activities—the new members were unable to participate. Zoe's withdrawal was a testament to his grace and respect for the integrity of our community's democratic process. We express our deep gratitude to Zoe, his team, and his supporters for their contributions and encourage his continued involvement in CCWM.

Nils Kinuani, a respected lawyer and immigration advocate, brought invaluable experience and dedication to the race. His impactful work on the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Congolese in the USA has garnered widespread appreciation in our community. Nils and his team demonstrated remarkable commitment, and we thank them for their efforts.

A Call for Unity and Growth
This election underscores the importance of member involvement in shaping the future of CCWM. We thank every member who showed up to vote—whether in person or online—and applaud their dedication to our community.
As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our first elections, we honor the founders of CCWM whose vision has brought us to this point. Their sacrifices and foresight have laid a strong foundation, and we owe it to them to continue building a vibrant and inclusive community.
Moving Forward Together
The General Assembly, as the supreme decision-making body, remains central to CCWM's governance. We encourage all members to remain actively engaged in our initiatives, projects, and decision-making processes.
During the campaign, many members called for a review and reform of the ROI and ByLaws, highlighting the importance of adapting to the evolving needs of the community. Inclusivity of youth emerged as a key concern, with a call to ensure their active participation in leadership.
Additionally, questions were raised regarding the territory covered by CCWM, with suggestions to expand or redefine boundaries to better serve all Congolese of the DMV area.
These issues will be carefully considered and discussed in the upcoming General Assembly. Rest assured, they will be on the table as part of our ongoing efforts to improve and strengthen CCWM. We encourage continued dialogue and active involvement in shaping the future of our organization.
We salute our Electoral Commission, volunteers, and every CCWM member for making this election a success.
Cheers to another decade of progress and dedication!
